Randy Travis has slowly but surely been making more public appearances after suffering a debilitating stroke in 2013. Not only did Blake Shelton honor the country musician in late April by bringing him out onstage to share some kind words, but now Kenny Chesney followed suit with his own tribute.

Travis attended Chesney’s Arlington, Texas show on Saturday (June 4) and sat stage side, according to Taste of Country. When Chesney began covering Travis’ “Diggin’ Up Bones” from the 1986 album Storms of Life, he invited the legend center stage to join him and sing. The two stood side-by-side while Chesney placed his arm around Travis and shared the mic.
Like Shelton, Chesney had some kind words about what Travis meant to him and the road he paved for country music. “Randy Travis paved the way and brought back country music,” he said. “Like George Jones, he is an original–and the real deal. It was great having him in the house, and it was great bringing him out for all the fans to see the man who brought so many young people to country music back in the ‘80s.”
